چکیده

odular fasciitis, also known as infiltrative or pseudosarcomatous fasciitis, is a benign soft tissue tumor of fibroblastic/myofibroblastic differentiation that was first described in 1955 by Konwaler et al.1 The lesion often comes to clinical attention when a patient presents with a rapidly growing, occasionally painful, palpable soft tissue mass.2,3 Although benign and self-limited, nodular fasciitis is a clonal neoplastic proliferation characterized by recurrent MYH9-USP6 (myosin heavy chain 9–ubiquitinspecific peptidase 6) gene fusion.4 Despite the fact that in a large retrospective study nodular fasciitis was found to represent 11.3% of benign soft tissue tumors,5 relatively few descriptions of nodular fasciitis have appeared in the radiologic literature. Most of the reports have been published in Anthony Khuu, MD, Corrie M. Yablon, MD, Jon A. Jacobson, MD, Alero Inyang, MD, David R. Lucas, MD, J. Sybil Biermann, MD

Nodular Fasciitis of the Auricle: A Case Report

Introduction: Nodular fasciitis is described as a benign reactive proliferation of myofibroblasts. Due to its rapid-growing nature, a precise clinical diagnosis is difficult and the condition is frequently misdiagnosed as malignant lesions.   Case Report: In this study, we present the case of a young woman with an auricular nodular fasciitis as an example of one of the rarest sites of this tumo...

Nodular Fasciitis – Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology Diagnosis and Its Pitfalls, with Review of Literature

Background and Objective: Nodular fasciitis (NF) is a self-limiting, transient neoplasm composed of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts. Since it regresses spontaneously, diagnosis by fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology plays a major role in its management. Methods: We present a series of 8 cases with either FNA or biopsy diagnosis of NF, and study the major...

Epibulbar Nodular Fasciitis

PURPOSE To report a case of epibulbar nodular fasciitis in a 32-year-old female and provide context by reviewing the current literature. RESULTS Using excisional biopsy, the patient was successfully diagnosed and treated for epibulbar nodular fasciitis. Upon follow-up, there has been no recurrence, consistent with the typical course for nodular fasciitis. CONCLUSIONS Epibulbar nodular fasci...

Nodular fasciitis as a vascular neck mass.

Nodular fasciitis falls within the benign spectrum of fibrous soft-tissue tumors. We present a case of nodular fasciitis in the supraclavicular fossa in which an unusual angiographic presence of neovascularity is shown.

Post-aural Nodular Fasciitis.

Nodular fasciitis is a rare benign lesion. Here we report a case of post-auricular nodular fasciitis, which was misdiagnosed by fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) as pleomorphic adenoma. An 18-year-old male presented at Al-Nahdha Hospital, physical examination revealed a right post aural firm immobile mass. Radiology suggested the presence of a hypo-dense to iso-dense subcutaneous mass. The...

Variable Ki67 proliferative index in 65 cases of nodular fasciitis, compared with fibrosarcoma and fibromatosis

UNLABELLED Nodular fasciitis is the most common pseudosarcomatous lesion of soft tissue. Ki67 was considered as a useful marker for distinguishing some benign and malignant lesions. To study the usefulness of Ki67 in diagnosis of nodular fasciitis, the expression of Ki67 was examined by using immunostaining in 65 nodular fasciitis specimens, 15 desmoid fibromatosis specimens and 20 fibrosarcoma...
